VB-ABA Therapy Across the UK

Leapfrog ABA Services

At Leapfrog Therapies, we provide ABA therapy informed by current research, neurodivergent lived experience and the Verbal Behaviour approach. The specific model we practise is Verbal Behaviour–Applied Behaviour Analysis (VB-ABA), a specialised form of ABA therapy focused particularly on functional communication, alongside social, learning and everyday living skills. We also incorporate play and leisure skills in all of our programmes in order to support learners in having opportunities to engage in naturalistic therapy, improve their quality of life, and build friendships.

The Leapfrog Approach is our personalised approach to ABA, which is a combination of verbal behaviour, the PBS values based framework and inspired by developmental based programmes like the Denver Early start model, and based on current best practices in behaviour analysis. We support children and young people aged 18 months to 25 years at home and in education settings across the UK, with therapists currently available for immediate start in Milton Keynes, Birmingham and Manchester.

Who can ABA therapy support?

Leapfrog Therapies provides VB-ABA for children and young people aged 18 months to 25 years. It can support learners who would benefit from developing functional communication, social interaction, learning, independence or everyday living skills. VB-ABA is widely used with autistic and other neurodivergent learners due to the extensive research that has been done in this area, although support is based on the individual’s needs rather than diagnosis alone.

Young people who display behaviours that challenge, such as spitting, kicking or hair-pulling, may also benefit from VB-ABA. Assessment and ongoing support can help identify what the person may be communicating through the behaviour and inform the teaching of safer, more effective communication skills. Every programme is bespoke and developed around the individual learner.

How does our ABA therapy work?

Our VB-ABA Consultants begin by completing an initial assessment of the learner’s communication, learning and developmental needs. This may include the Verbal Behaviour Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), alongside other assessment methods selected for the individual.

Following the assessment across both home and nursery/school settings, we develop a bespoke VB-ABA therapy programme with goals based on the learner’s needs and priorities. Regular workshops take place at home, nursery or school, allowing the Consultant to observe sessions, review progress, and make adjustments where needed.

We can provide parent-led or education staff-led programmes with ongoing professional guidance, or supply VB-ABA Therapists to deliver regular sessions. Our ABA therapy is play-based, assent-focused, child-led and shaped around the learner’s interests, preferences and motivation so that sessions are engaging and enjoyable.
